We are very pleased to partner with The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to establish the Friends of Stones River National Battlefield Endowment Fund.
The endowment fund represents our long-term commitment for supporting the National Park Service and Stones River National Battlefield. As the endowment grows in principal, the investment proceeds will provide a yearly stream of income to the Friends of Stones River National Battlefield to support the needs and programs of the park.
The endowment is a great way for users and supporters of the national battlefield to provide donations to the Friends group that will have a long-term impact to the park. Note that any donations made to the endowment are a gift to the Community Foundation and that the Friends of Stones River National Battlefield only receive a portion of the investment income earned by the Community Foundation. Consult with your financial, tax or estate advisors on making contributions from retirement accounts or designating the endowment as a beneficiary. Contact the Community Foundation for assistance at 615-321-4939.
With your support, the Friends can continue to support the park in presenting living history programs, concerts, education to children and internship opportunities. The park continues to have record-numbered visitation with substantial use by local residents for recreation purposes (walking, biking, dog-walking, etc.) We continue to work with the battlefield on long-term improvements to trails while protecting the park’s unique natural resources. As one of only a few national cemeteries within the National Park Service, the Friends also support the care of the cemetery as well as providing education on the history of these solemn grounds.
